Paired Review: Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime

Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime is a fantastic co-op game that’s perfect for blasting through space with your partner. Want to see how much fun we had playing it? Watch our gameplay here!

Developed by Asteroid Base, we originally played this game for two hours before Sam decided for another five years or so that it was too hard and not worth a try. Later, less salty about it, we found that the game itself offered some surprising depth in these areas:

Ship Customization: You don’t just pilot a clunky spaceship; you can outfit it with different gems that grant special abilities. Strategize with your partners to find the right gem combinations for the challenges ahead. Maybe you’ll focus on firepower or prioritize shields for a more defensive approach.

Difficulty Curve: Do not try to play this game with your partner on a difficulty that is not fun. The most important part of completing a game with your significant other is that you both are having fun. Play easy mode and take breaks when you need them. We found that this game ramps up quickly in difficulty. Avoid years of hate like Sam did by playing on an easier mode.

Hidden Secrets: The game world holds hidden nooks and crannies to explore. Can you find all the secrets and unlock powerful upgrades for your ship? We certainly tried.

Here’s why you and your fellow space captain will love it:

• Work Together or Explode Together: You control a giant spaceship together. Teamwork is essential to survive space hazards and defeat enemies!
• Pure Chaotic Fun: Things get wild as you zip around the screen, switching between stations to keep your ship from falling apart. It’s a hilarious and frantic experience.
• Space Bunnies Need Saving!: Your adorable objective? Rescue fuzzy space bunnies from the evil forces of Anti-Love.
• Neon Everything: The game’s got a vibrant, cartoony style that makes everything from your ship to the space-monsters pop.
• Banging Soundtrack: An awesome soundtrack by Ryan Henwood, that will maybe you pause from the mission to take in the sounds.

Overall, Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime is a charming and strategic co-op experience that will test your teamwork and communication skills in a wacky and vibrant space adventure. Try it for yourself on most available platforms, like Steam!
